Curriculum

We believe that children learn best through multiple opportunities to play and by being able to manipulate and make sense of toys and objects in their learning environment. In this way they are better able to make sense of the world around them. The teacher’s role is to guide children in their learning, recognizing best practices and intentionally facilitating the children’s learning experiences through the development of the children’s ideas and acceptance of the children’s’ approaches to learning. The teacher supports the different modalities of learning in the classroom environment, visual, auditory, tactile and kinesthetic.

Little Folks has defined The Creative Curriculum and its assessment system Teaching Strategies Gold since it aligns with the program philosophy of how children learn and what children need to be successful learners. Learning experiences are supported and driven by the children’s interests and adapted to meet the individual needs of all children.

Little Folks has recognized the importance of brain research in the developing child, as well as the fact that parents are their child’s first teachers. In this way, Little Folks emphasizes and supports the involvement of parents in the designing and implementing of educational programs throughout the agency. Healthy, positive and supportive relationships are integral in the success of the developing child.
